Repair or Buy A Fresh

 My parents always tried to get things fixed up whenever they broke or suffered some fault. I have seen pros and cons of getting things repaired, and have also considered the possibility of shifting to buy-afresh strategy all the time. Pondering over the problem I chanced to think about a lot many issues, and deem it fit to share them with the rest of humanity. Hope they find it beneficial.

It all depends upon the matter at hand. If you need to calculate the cost in each case and draw comparisons. Sometimes it is better to repair some articles but in many cases buying yourself a new one proves to be far better than fixing it up. Fortunately we have got so many appliance repair services and companies, and gone are the days when someone had to look for technicians, only to come to know that there is none in their locality.

So if we chance to decide repairing appliances, we need not worry about looking for suitable services. Moreover, since competition has emerged, one is in a far better position to find good technicians.

But first let us see how one should look at the problem. Take the example of repairing your old air conditioner. They tend to consume much more electricity if you let them grow old. An colleague of mine estimated the cost of electricity that he might be paying for after getting his old AC repaired.

 I was surprised to come to know that the money he was most likely to spend in eight forth coming months was sufficient to buy him a new AC. So he decided to buy an inverter AC, that was promising to be cost effective. Some might think that it is better to use your old stuff as long as it lasts but that costs you a lot more in these situations. One really has to look at things objectively.

I would like to point out a common mistake that is made in these cases. No one pays attention to the botheration that he might be suffering from if he decides to get his stuff repaired. If you got you AC to be repaired, you need to make sure which technician might be a good for your machine. Similarly, you have to spend time on looking for such people and arranging meetings with them. That in itself is a job and takes your time. 

If you are not willing to measure your time in terms of bucks, that is your choice, but for me at the least, the consideration and focus of attention, let alone the time spent in physically carrying out your idea, too has its value; and if you are a thinker or a teacher, you bread and butter depends heavily on you remained focused on you work and keep thinking better ways of doing your own job.

There is no hard and fast rule to decide whether everyone should go for repairing or all should buy afresh. It varies from person to person and from article to article, and one has to consider each and every case individually, though some general tips may possible be compiled.
